When I'm in a zoom meeting, my violin is not audible. When I test the mic outside of zoom, it registers the violin. It's just in zoom zoom meeting where it doesn't work. On my other laptop, I have an older zoom client Version 5. The Original Sound setting will be displayed in the top left corner of your meetings, and you need to turn on original sound in the top left corner's Original Sound setting.
Thanks for the reply. I did try turning on original sound. It still didn't work. Dorking very strange. I have just developed exactly the same problem following an update. Having taught online without issue for over a year workking will now dorking recognise violin or piano with exactly the same equipment. I removed that, turned lapto; all microphone effects and it worked. Violin came through loud and clear. I hope you can find oj similar.
Thank you so aound fort your help! Between last Tuesday May 24th and today my Zoom now v5. I've gone through everything and it is all exactly as it was last week. My speaking a singing voice come through fine, but as soon as I play violin for my student it is entirely blocked out. When I have run Original Sound there was a tendency for there to be sounr feedback loop aoom my sound and the workinv and it caused issues. As I said - everything has worked perfectly until the most recent update, but I'm not sure what changed as a result of that? Sorry, I mean you need to use echo cancellation to avoid feedback when enable original sound.

I've been using the Surface Laptop 3 for Zoom for months with no problems. Three weeks ago this problem started and I cannot stop it by changing the setttings on Zoom.
I am in meetings with many people whose mics and speakers are near each other, and no one else is having the problem. That's why I think it's a Microsoft hardware or Windows 10 problem rather than a Zoom problem. No matter what audio settings I use for Zoom, if I'm using the built-in Realtek audio and mic, I have the problem. The mic picks up the audio from the other meeting participants coming out of my speakers and Windows does not know to cancel that audio out.
Zoom then perceives me as the person speaking. I can't hear anyone else, and the person actually speaking hears themself twice. I've been experiencing the same problem and it started out of the blue months ago after having almost no issues with it since getting the laptop in April Zoom support was no help at all.

If I join the Zoom audio via my phone there is no echo. I'm more than a little frustrated because for the money I spent on this computer I should be able to do basic things like use Zoom!
I have tried the things mentioned in the article from Zoom and the items below mentioned by StevenK except for the fresh start since this computer is just 2 weeks old, I don't think I should have to do that! I don't use a docking station, so I doubt that has anything to do with anything. This problem surfaced pun intended this week. When I use the Surface Laptop's built in microphone and speakers and someone else speaks, Zoom picks up that audio from my speaker and loops it. Zoom thinks I'm speaking and cuts off my colleagues. They hear themselves echoing through my Surface. I hear them as broken up. I've been through all the audio settings in Windows 10 and Zoom and cannot fix. It seems like it can't be a Zoom problem, because Zoom must have worked through this issue that literally every person who isn't using an external mic or headset has.
Please let me know if you know how to fix this. I recently bought a Surface Laptop and am having the same issues. Clearly this is something that Microsoft has to fix. The Surface product line needs to work with all video conferencing platforms beyond Teams. Please fix this or I'll be forced to buy competitors products.
